How does this compare to GTA IV as far as the amount of hype is concerned?
I bought into all of the GTA IV hype and my friends and I all went an got but I got bored of the missions after a couple of weeks and then it basically turned into every other GTA game where I just went around doing whatever I wanted and that got boring even quicker. I sold it for around $30 after a couple of months.

I was sold when my friend messaged me saying that she was carrying cows around a farm with a forklift!

Very arcade-y, but much better than GTA IV

Did you play San Andreas? The level of content is much closer to SA than IV. IV was a bit watered down and lacking, but V is not at all. There's car customization, airplanes, trailers, side activities that are actually fun...and so far the story is rather interesting with pretty exciting missions. I've only done one heist and it was awesome, and the first few missions with the third character were insane.
The map is also huge and I feel like after 8 hours or so of playing I've barely scratched the surface. I haven't even discovered the whole map yet, there's some big sections that I haven't been to.
It's well worth it IMO, but if you're on the fence go rent it for a night from redbox.

Good to know. It might just be me, but I feel like driving in GTA has sucked in all the games after Vice City. I'm debating whether I should go out and buy this new one...

it was fine in SA I thought, IV was just weird. This one definitely feels very arcadey (you can even control cars in the air a bit), but it's a lot more fun than IV

It's a dangerous game.

Maybe I'm just thinking of IV... it's been a while. But with IV, you ever notice that when you get into a supercar it handles like a '70's land yacht?

Idk, I played so much IV that I got used to it.

you can haul a boat and then get it on the lake. you can do anything.

The best change for me is the fact the missions have checkpoints so if you die you don't need to re-do the entire mission. Multiple lead characters is pretty sweet too, the transition from the 1st one to the 2nd was done a very smooth way.

i really dont like much the story, but i like the game for the cars and the freedom you have in the streets you can get anywhere on a car, and in any other car game you have an invisible barrier that keeps you on the streets.

they are not so real, but its better than those need for speeds

i agree, the map is inmense, not only on level ground, but theres some underground places as well, if you go to the canal,
you will discover that one tunnel leads to a subway line in construction

what i envy about the pc version are all the modifications they do to them

yes, on one mission you entered the dogs eyes, but i dont know enough, i havent been doing missions because i was visiting the entire map, checking out the radio stations and checking all the cars, the best ones ive used are the jaguar f type, the R8, ford GT gulf version(cyan + orange) and the aston martin zagato

yeah, they can be fun. I especially like adding in real-world cars.
In San Andreas I found out the hard way, only add one car at a time! Otherwise you'll have a hell of a time figuring out which one is crashing your game.
Luckily for me it happened every time I went to a certain neighborhood, so I knew which car to return to orignal, haha.

Yeah, there's a mission that takes you down the tunnel. Don't forget you can scuba dive and have submarines too, and from the 2 seconds I spent underwater as part of an early mission it looks like there's a ton to explore.

id like to be able to do that, but i dont even have a pc that is good for gaming

wow, is as if i havent even opened the game, i didnt know you could go scuba diving, i played all night but i did like 2 or 3 missions only.

I haven't gotten to the scuba/sub part yet. I've been doing missions mostly, trying to grind out at least until most of the activities are unlocked, or to reach the parts of the story where you are told to do certain activities that I might otherwise overlook, like riding a bike down the beach.
